Challenge Harbor Plaza, a long-neglected business campus on a spectacular site on Stamford Harbor, was purchased by the NYC firm, George Comfort & Sons, with the aim of upgrading it to a first class facility. There were three major challenges: 1) the buildings and grounds were in urgent need of upgrading. 2) the Harbor Plaza brand had been diminished by years of neglect and mismanagement. 3) its distance from Stamford’s train station was something of a deterrent.
Solution As the campus underwent major renovation, Russell Design created a new brand, including a name — Shippan Landing, echoing a prestigious residential community nearby and the nautical nature of the site. We developed a new logo, marketing materials and a website. A panoramic sunset shot across the water became the brand's iconic image; the website further emphasized this and provided up-to-date information on space availability. We also designed a full signage program, including signs with overlapping metal meshes to reference water movement and the surrounding marine environment. As a result, Shippan Landing has become an attractive destination in itself, overcoming the issue of travel time from the station.
