Kuwait Ministry of Finance

Russell Design is working with Jassim Qabazard Engineering Consultants (JQEC) and Bonnington EPR International who are undertaking the renovation of a complex of Sixties-designed buildings in Kuwait City that houses a range of twenty government ministries. The immediate need is for a wayfinding and signage program for the Ministry of Finance, a pilot project that could then be the model for the entire complex. Although the program is in English and Arabic, we used pictograms extensively to communicate with visitors speaking many other languages. Overall, our intent was to bring clarity to what the client confessed was previously an extremely confusing wayfinding experience. Using visual references that echo the extensive use of mashribiya to be featured in the renovation, our design program is intended to fit seamlessly into the architectural context.
